The original car port of this inner-city property could best be described as post-modern and at worst just plain ugly.
In designing a new carport with studio above, our challenge was to maximise the internal floor space, whilst ensuring solar access to the adjoining garden, and at the same time maintaining a sympathetic facade to the rear laneway. Skylights were used to create greater sense of space and light, increasing the amenity of the studio. The generous layout, with polished timber floors deceptively creates a sense of comfort, and the dormer window blends perfectly into the streetscape.
